Certificate in Personal Training
NOW ENROLLING FOR AUTUMN 2017
This course aims to develop learners with existing knowledge and skills in gym instruction who would like to develop their skills and knowledge to pursue a career in personal training. This qualification consists of a total of 7 mandatory units, three of which are achieved in the level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Gym) qualification.
These three units are:
- Know how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity
- Health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment
- Principles of exercise, fitness and health
The remaining four units to be covered are:
- Unit 1 – Anatomy and physiology for health and exercise
- Unit 2 – Applying the principles of nutrition to a physical activity programme
- Unit 3 – Programming personal training with clients
- Unit 4 – Delivering personal training sessions Successful achievement of all seven units must be achieved for the full qualification.
Active IQ (www.activeiq.co.uk) The Certificate in Personal Training is a level 3 qualification on the UK Qualifications and Credit Framework (level 4 on the European Qualifications Framework). This qualification provides access onto the European Register of Exercise Professionals (EREPs) at level 4 and is fully accredited by the European Health and Fitness Association (www.ehfa.eu).
Who Should Apply?
This course will be of interest to gym instructors wishing to pursue a career in the health and fitness sector as personal trainers and/or individuals, who already hold a gym instructor qualification, wishing to become self-employed running their own personal training business.

The course is one academic year in duration and runs during the daytime.
The theory classes will run on Wednesday afternoons 2-5pm.
Practical classes will run on Thursdays 9-11am or 11-1pm (student can choose their slot).

A suitable Level 2 qualification in Gym Instructing. The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential, therefore a degree of physical fitness is necessary. There is also an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) and numeracy involved in this course and learners should have basic communication skills and the ability to apply numbers pitched at levels 3 and 2 respectively.
Tuition fee is €850.00. (This includes professional registration, manuals, workbooks, assessment and certification fees for the qualification).
